Enshrouded: How to Fill a Water Pouch

Select the pouch before you try to fill it

The key distinction when refilling a water pouch is selecting the pouch rather than activating its numbered shortcut. Number keys can trigger the item’s use action instead of equipping it for refilling.

This matters because the 1-9 hotbar keys are used to use food, potion and water items. Pressing the pouch’s number can therefore use the item rather than ready it for a refill.

Once the pouch is your active item, go to a water source and hold the fill input through the brief delay. Watch the pouch’s fill bar, since a quick click may not be enough to start and complete the action.

1. Make sure the water pouch is on your hotbar.
2. Select the pouch as your active item instead of pressing its number key.
3. Go to a water source.
4. Hold the fill input and keep holding through the brief delay.
5. Watch the pouch’s fill bar until the action completes.

PC and controller fill inputs

On PC, the fill method uses a held right click. On a controller, the method uses LB, the left bumper. In either case, make sure the pouch is selected before testing the fill input.

With a controller, put the pouch on the hotbar and select it before attempting to refill. At the water source, hold LB and watch the pouch’s fill indicator.

1. On PC: select the pouch, then hold right click at the water source.
2. On controller: put the pouch on the hotbar, select it, then hold LB at the water source.
3. Keep holding and watch the fill bar or fill indicator.

If the pouch will not become your active item

If pressing the pouch’s number leaves you unable to fill it, try scrolling to that same slot before changing anything else. These selection workarounds are not requirements for every refill; try them only when the pouch will not become your active item, and there is no need to rearrange both bars if normal mouse-wheel selection works.

1. Scroll to the pouch’s hotbar slot instead of pressing its number key.
2. If scrolling does not equip the pouch, open your inventory and move the pouch out of its hotbar slot.
3. Select the now-empty slot, then put the pouch back into it.
4. Return to the water and test the refill action.
5. Alternatively, put the pouch in the slot directly beneath your currently selected slot and switch bars. For example, with slot 1 selected on the first bar, place the pouch in slot 1 on the second bar and press Alt to switch using the default PC binding.
