Enshrouded Mycelium: Where to Find It and What It's For

What mycelium is used for

Mycelium is a crafting material used, among other things, for upgrading the Flame Altar, and it is one of the key resources needed when raising your Flame level.

The first time players typically need it is the Flame Altar upgrade from level three to four, which requires 15 mycelium. The same upgrade also calls for Goo, Sparks, Indigo Plants, Amber, Copper Ore and the Fell Wispywyvern Head, which are found throughout Revelwood and in the Pike Capital.

How to mine mycelium

Mycelium is mined from blue-glowing, mineable terrain. It grows in the ground and on rock walls wherever the blue glow appears, and hitting it with a pickaxe transfers mycelium into your inventory.

A basic Scrap Pickaxe can harvest mycelium, but bringing your best pickaxe is advised. Deposits appear as blue-glowing rocks and mushrooms, and large blue-glowing formations sit around the Shroud zones.

1. Equip a pickaxe, ideally your best one.
2. Look for blue-glowing terrain, rocks or mushroom-like growths in a Shroud zone.
3. Swing the pickaxe at the glowing deposit to collect mycelium.

Where to find mycelium

Mycelium is located in every Shroud zone and around Elixir Wells, so a little exploration in any Shroud zone will usually lead to a minable deposit, even around your own base.

One convenient location is directly close to spawn underneath Braelyn Bridge, where early quests send players. The zone below the bridge is sufficient for mining, and the blue deposits can be spotted from a higher vantage point. Following the early quest to cleanse the Elixir Well leads to the well a short distance east of the bridge.

Another spot with many deposits is in the southeast near the Niederauen-Warte. After unlocking it for fast travel, head a short distance west and mine to fill your inventory quickly.

Near magma rivers, terrain beside magma pools that looks almost like white hair yields even more mycelium. This terrain is easier to find next to magma pools but can sometimes appear in normal Shroud zone plains as well.

1. Travel to Braelyn Bridge near spawn and look down from a higher point for blue deposits.
2. Follow the early Elixir Well quest east of the bridge to reach the well area.
3. Alternatively, unlock the Niederauen-Warte in the southeast for fast travel, then head a short distance west.
4. For larger yields, explore Shroud zones beside magma rivers and dig the white-hair-like terrain near magma pools.
