Where to find Metal Scraps in Enshrouded

Metal Scraps are a common crafting material mainly found in the Springlands. The easiest way to get them is by defeating Scavengers, hostile human survivors corrupted by prolonged exposure to the Elixir who commonly gather in ruined settlements and abandoned villages.

Farming Scavengers is generally the more reliable option because scraps come while you clear enemy camps. In the early game, Rookmore, a ruined village in the Springlands, is a decent farming spot, and Scavengers can also be found in the area north of Braelyn Bridge. While exploring the Springlands, watch for ruined settlements above the Shroud where these enemies frequently gather.

Scavenger Berserkers, Scavenger Scalpers, Scavenger Scrapguns and Scavenger Wolves can all drop Metal Scraps, and Hollow Soldiers and Hollow Reapers can drop them too. Drops vary by enemy type and are not guaranteed: you can get anywhere between 0 and 5 Metal Scraps per defeated enemy, so expect to clear several foes for a specific recipe.

  1. Keep health potions, stamina food such as honey or wolf meat, and water or elixirs ready before entering large camps like Rookmore.
  2. Explore the ruined buildings and surrounding area at Rookmore, where Scavengers patrol.
  3. Defeat the Scavengers and collect any Metal Scraps they drop, clearing several enemies since each gives only a small amount.

Other sources: ruined objects, chests and loose scraps

Metal Scraps can also be obtained without fighting. Destroyed metal objects can drop scraps, so search abandoned buildings and ruined settlements as you explore, and scraps can appear as physical items in the world around ruined structures. Metal Scraps can generally be found in chests and abandoned workbenches as well.

Some locations have Metal Scraps for the taking, with early-game examples including Longkeep, Braelyn Bridge and Rookmore. These alternative sources are especially helpful when you only need a few extra scraps to complete a recipe.

What Metal Scraps are used for

Metal Scraps feed a wide range of recipes, including weapons, armor, tools, furniture and building decorations. They become especially important early on when you start working with the Blacksmith. During the Forge Weaponry or Armor main quest, you must craft equipment with the Blacksmith, including options such as the Scrappy Sword, Spiked Club and armor pieces, which require Metal Scraps.

Other uses include the Grappling Hook, the Forge, Nails, Scrappy tools, the Lockpick, Fur armor pieces, Scrap tableware, the Advanced Rake, and items such as the Camp Bed, Carved Wooden Door and Chandelier. Demand grows as more crafting options unlock, so it is worth keeping a supply in storage rather than collecting only what you need for your next weapon.
