What Amber Is and Why It Matters
Amber is a mineral resource that mages will want to stockpile to obtain spells, especially the Eternal versions. It is needed either to upgrade the flame or to create powerful spells.
Amber is condensed into a few spots and is extremely scarce, so it is worth collecting whenever you come across a vein rather than waiting until a recipe needs it.
How to Spot Amber Nodes
Amber nodes show as an orange hue on the terrain. The color is darker than clay but the same orange color, and mining the node gives Amber.
Where to Find Amber in Revelwood
Large Amber nodes can be found along the hills and mountainsides of Revelwood, particularly in the area right next to the region’s Ancient Spire. Amber veins also run along the eastern base of the valley.
The closest vein is fairly small but more than enough for immediate needs, while the vein to the north is much larger. The crags are steeped within the Shroud, so make sure your survival timer is long enough if you plan on staying a while.
A Safe Route to the Amber Veins
Fast travel to the Revelwood fast travel point and glide down to the shrouded area, then use the Ancient Spire to reach the veins without fighting through the Shroud.
- Fast travel to the Revelwood fast travel point and glide down to the shrouded area.
- From the Ancient Spire, jump off the northern or eastern balcony and glide toward the Amber locations.
- Look for Amber veins along the eastern base of the valley.
- For the larger northern vein, glide from the spire to avoid needless combat against the Fell lurking inside the Shroud.
- Bring a second pickaxe if you plan on mining the entire northern vein, since the first one will likely break first.
- Watch the Shroud timer and plan an escape route, because many enemies roam the area and staying too long can leave you without time to get out and recover.
What Amber Is Used For
Amber is needed for a Flame Altar upgrade as well as a number of mid-tier crafting recipes from the Blacksmith, Hunter, and Alchemist. Those recipes include the Mercenary Chest Piece, the Guardian Helmet, Chest, Gloves, and Boots, the Tank Chestplate, the Ghostly Shield, the Healer Headwrap, Tunic, Gloves, and Pants, the Hunter Gloves, and the Ranger Vest.
For spellcasters, the Eternal Fireball spell is an infinite Fireball spell that requires 50 Amber, while each Fireball II spell costs 5 Amber and is temporary. A lot of Amber is also needed to craft Fireball Staff Charges, though this can mostly be disregarded once you have unlocked Eternal Fireball or the Eternal spell for the element you prefer. Eternal spells do not cost Staff Charges but still consume mana, so consider increasing Mana Regeneration for a spellcaster build.
Stockpiling Amber Early
Mining as much Amber as possible in the early stage and keeping it on hand is worthwhile. It is better to have some stored than to need some and realize you have forgotten where to farm it.
